The residential construction work we do runs the full spectrum from bathroom replacement to gourmet kitchens and major additions as well as an occasional custom home. Currently we have quite a few requests to renovate entire homes built since 1960 and replace lower grade finishes. We are experts at decks, replacing windows, rebuilding entries and a host of other small projects…all with the same incredibly high standards.

Our History

Starting out as a painting contractor in 1967 Len McAdams became a remodeling contractor to renovate homes in the early 70’s. As the business grew, the company was incorporated in 1974 with the same spirit of friendly service and superior craftsmanship we offer you today.

Over the years the company has remodeled well over 1000 homes and built 22 new ones. We are proud to be working today in some of the same homes (and for the same clients) where we first remodeled over 20 years ago. Recently we built a second story addition for a growing family on a home the company built in 1997.

The company has been honored with MAME and REX awards from the Master Builders Association for creative and well crafted remodeling design, as well as personal recognition of Len McAdams for humanitarian service.

Leadership

Len McAdams graduated from The University of Washington in 1974 with a degree in Construction Management. His university training provided the platform for developing the systems we use today.

Committed to leadership in the industry and community, Len has participated for many years in the Master Builders Association Remodeler’s Council, including one year as Chairman of the group. He has also been on the board of the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce and the company is a long time member of the Better Business Bureau.

Len was the resident expert talk show host on the KVI Home Improvement Show for many years. He has spoken on home remodeling topics at both the Seattle Home Show and Bellevue Home Show. Whatever the construction problem, you can depend on Len’s expertise to help us develop solutions for you.

Today McAdams Builders offers you a full service remodeling company staffed by friendly and highly competent designers, craftsmen, and support staff. We are not trying to be the biggest remodeling company in the area but we work hard every day to be the best.

Design

The foundation of a great building project is always great planning! We are fortunate to have excellent designers to guide you through the process. In addition to creativity and technical competence, you can expect a high level of professional courtesy from each of us. Appointments will be kept, deadlines met and you will be routinely informed of progress and what the next steps may be.

Jobsite Management

One key to successful home remodeling is first-rate carpenters on the jobsite. When the plans for your project are drawn and the features are selected, it is up to them to “make it so”! We are proud to offer you the services of a highly skilled and well trained group who not only get the job done but have a good time in the process. They use state of the art equipment for each task from temporary dust partitions to power nailers, but always with an eye to your comfort and security.

But it is not all about the carpenter! McAdams Builders depends on expert trade subcontractors in each category to produce the best results for you. Our plumber, electrician, drywall contractor, and the rest or our subs are dependable and trustworthy people we use on every job. Some have been doing our work for over 20 years!

Support Staff

From the first phone call or E-mail, you can expect excellent communication from our friendly office staff. If you call between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM odds are a person will actually answer the telephone! After that, you will always have at least one person who knows you and the status of your project or request.

Contracts, Specification and Selection Sheets, billing procedures and Change Orders are all handled with proven systems. We retain project records permanently, so we can pull the file and help find product or vendor information for as long as you own your home.
